Clerk to Local Governing Body
FPTA Academies Trust is looking to appoint an additional Clerk to our Trust Clerking Team. You will primarily clerk the Local Governing Body of Balfour Junior Academy, liaising with the rest of the Trust clerking team and acting as supply cover within the team. You will also liaise with the Clerk to the Trustees to undertake special hearings such as complaints and exclusions.
The ideal candidate will be reliable, confident, well organised, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have an interest in school governance. You will need to be competent in ICT skills and have computer and internet access. You will be accountable to the Local Governing Body, working effectively with them, the Chair of Governors and Headteacher and your duties will include:
- Preparing and distributing relevant paperwork prior to meeting
- Minuting meetings
- Updating Governor attendance and training records
- Keeping up to date with legislation and Ofsted requirements
- Monitoring LGB compliance
- Attending training and clerk briefings
- Auditing policies and ensuring the LGBs have an updated schedule each year
Balfour Junior School holds approximately ten meetings per year, which take place usually at 4.30 pm at the host school. Any additional meetings will be claimable as overtime.
Whilst we would ideally like an experienced and qualified clerk, training will be provided for the right candidate.
