About City of London Academy Islington

At COLAI we aim to provide an exceptional level of care and education for every individual student. The Academy, which opened in September 2008, is a mixed, non-selective Academy, with no religious affiliation, committed to providing an excellence in education and opportunities for all.

We are a transformed Academy with dramatically improved outcomes for our students. Our GCSE results doubled from 2012-13. Our 2014 results were higher still with 69% of our students achieving the highest grades of five A* - C passes including English and Mathematics and our 2015 summer GCSE examination results show that our students continue to make excellent progress.

Our 2015 Advanced Level pass rate is at 100%. Over 90% of our Year 13 students have successfully secured a place at university and many of our students have achieved top A Level grades, gaining places at prestigious Russell Group universities.

Leadership and management are recognised as outstanding (Ofsted 2014) and we are determined to continue to improve to an outstanding judgement at the next Ofsted inspection. Clear, crucial improvements are ongoing to secure our students’ high levels of success at the Academy. At COLAI, we are totally committed to providing the absolute best for the young people of Islington. We firmly believe all students can succeed and we work to inspire a determination within the Academy for all to achieve the highest of expectations.

We aim to fully maximise student success by ensuring that all students are provided with rich, high quality educational opportunities, within our culture of high aspiration where achievement is recognised and celebrated. It is our determination to ensure that all students at the Academy progress, achieve and are provided with the support and challenge to excel.
