We are looking to appoint a Drama teacher to be part of our highly-committed and passionate team.
The post requires an individual with the ability to inspire our pupils. You must be motivated, highly-organised, approachable, with good interpersonal skills, particularly in communicating with parents. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach and promote drama across all age groups, assist teachers with class assembly preparation and direct and coordinate year group drama productions. The ability to teach English would also be an advantage.
Notting Hill Prep is a “Thinking School”, a title which reflects its intelligent approach to education and its devotion to instilling in its children the values of resilience, creativity and responsibility, which it holds dear. The school aims to teach children not merely to learn, but to learn how to learn. The ability to imbed ‘Thinking School’ practices in all lessons will be a requirement.
The role will involve contact with, and responsibility for, children and will amount to ‘regulated activity’.
The salary and package are generous and subject to experience.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the DBS.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are ‘spent’ unless they are ‘protected’ under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess the suitability to work with children.
About Notting Hill Preparatory School
I feel very privileged to be the relatively new Head of this wonderful school. NHP has quickly built a reputation as one of the leading prep schools in central London thanks to a combination of dynamic teaching, excellent academic results and a firm commitment to protect the joy of childhood.
I strongly believe that children thrive when they feel safe and happy. At NHP (affectionately re-named by the children as No Happier Place) we work hard to create a nurturing environment where our pupils’ views are respected and encouraged. Kindness and courtesy are key themes and we focus on the children’s ability to co-operate, to think collaboratively and to show consideration for the needs of others.
We are proud of our reputation as a Thinking School and through our Learning Habits and Values, we ensure that NHP pupils develop key life skills alongside academic ones. The children leave us with a problem-solving attitude and a toolkit on which to draw. They are confident, articulate, resourceful, resilient, independent and more than ready to face the next stage of their education.
It is a given that our pupils will move on to some of the leading schools in the country, but what is important for us is that they move on to the right school for them. That is the one which will allow them to flourish and build on the strong foundations that they have established here at NHP.
I hope that you have time to browse our website and see more of what makes our school so special and what makes an NHP pupil stand out from the crowd. Of course, the best way to get a feel for us is to come and visit and I look forward to welcoming you to our ‘hidden gem’ in the heart of Notting Hill.
