We need your vision, drive & determination to help us in our journey towards “Outstanding” at our highly successful and nationally recognised Academy.
You will play a central role within our Senior Leadership Team; leading on SEN to ensure that every student is enabled to achieve the best possible outcomes; regardless of learning needs or disadvantage. You will be an outstanding practitioner of your subject area, with a proven track record of success. You will utilise the best of your talents whilst developing personally within a committed and experienced group of senior leadership colleagues. The successful candidate will hold the NASENCo qualification, or be willing to work towards this.
Ormiston Rivers Academy is recognised as a firmly “Good” School (Ofsted 2016), with the determination and ability to move to “Outstanding”. We are supported in this aim by our sponsor, Ormiston Academies Trust. Our overall Progress 8 score in 2019 was +0.43, placing us within the top 9% of schools nationally, and ranking us as the 2nd highest performing non-selective school in Essex. Historically, SEN and Pupil Premium students have performed well in the academy, achieving outcomes largely in line with their year group cohort. The percentage of SEN students is approximately 20%, and the percentage of Pupil Premium students is similarly around 20%.
This is a key, strategic role within the Academy and we are committed to recruiting a candidate who shares our vision and who views the post as a positive progression in their career. Visits are welcomed and encouraged.
Ormiston Academies Trust is a values led, not-for-profit education trust. We are committed to safeguarding and the welfare of children & young people and will conduct recruitment checks including a full DBS check. All staff are expected to share this commitment.
About Ormiston Rivers Academy
Ormiston Rivers Academy came into existence in September 2011, when the predecessor school became a sponsored academy as part of the Ormiston Academies Trust.
Most students are of White British heritage and few students speak English as an additional language. The proportion of students who are supported at school action and school action plus, or with a statement of special educational needs, are higher than average. There are a higher than average number of students eligible for the pupil premium. Students’ ability on entry is historically lower than average. However, we have recently received national recognition for the value the academy adds to students’ achievements at GCSE; being placed in the top 20% of schools nationally for outstanding student progress.
We are fortunate enough to have received £10.75 million funding upon becoming an Ormiston academy and we are currently nearing completion of a complete re-build and refurbishment programme, providing state-of-the-art facilities that will stimulate and inspire our students.
