General Assistant – Fixed term – One Year Contract

Would you like the opportunity to join a highly successful Surrey independent preparatory school based on a private estate in the leafy suburb of Kingston?  Rokeby School provides first-rate education and personal development for our boys, enabling them to move onto some of the best schools in the country.

We pride ourselves on the way in which we educate and support all our boys at Rokeby and help them to develop as individuals.  Do you have a similar vision, and wish to work in a positive and inspiring learning environment? If so, we would like you to join our team as a General Assistant.

This full-time role, working term-time only, will involve you delivering pre-planned lessons and supervising the cover work set by absent teachers to classes across years 3-8, offering general support to teachers and supervising break and lunchtime sessions on the playground.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support boys in and out of the classroom. You should have a passion for working with young people to ensure they can fulfil their potential. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates or those considering a career in teaching.

Rokeby School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects its entire staff to share its commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service criminal records bureau disclosure.

About Rokeby School

The Ethos of a Great School

‘Your son comes first’: At Rokeby we put the boys, as individuals, before anything else.

We want all of our young people to know that the essence of achievement lies in what they themselves can do and what they can take pride in; that it is not so much about competition with other pupils as with trying to gain the best for themselves from the wealth of opportunities our staff and facilities offer. This demands dedicated teaching, enthusiastic children and good partnership work with parents; and we are proud of this team approach.

Motivation and Opportunities

Rokeby offers an education from 4-13 years and through an integrated approach to pre-prep and prep we provide a stand-alone school that, whilst enjoying strong associations with many senior schools, does not tie your son to one school from 4-18yrs. Some parents seek a single sex environment from a young age whilst others are looking for coeducation; at Rokeby we believe that single sex education provides a strong base for motivation and achievement through a breadth of opportunities. And we understand boys!
