About Sir Harry Smith Community College

Our most recent Ofsted inspection recognised us as a “good school”. Highlights of the report include the inspectors’ recognition that our "students are proud of their school and behave with respect and consideration". They also reported that students behave well and that students feel safe in school. "Relationships between students and staff are positive and students appreciate their teachers and their college. Students arrive at lessons willing to learn and this has a good impact on their achievement."

We annually survey our parents and the latest feedback was the best we have ever had. Over 94% of parents said that their child enjoys school and 97% say that their child feels safe when in school. In terms of academic work 98% of parents feel that their child makes good progress at the college and 98% of parents would recommend us to another parent. We are delighted to have this level of support from our parents and are continually looking at how we can make the college an even better place.

We are proud to be a comprehensive school serving our local community. We have excellent links with our partner primary schools, leading to a very smooth transition into Year 7. We are also seeing more children apply to the college from outside our traditional catchment area and they quickly settle in to the Sir Harry Smith way of doing things.

Following a major £10 million refurbishment of the college, which was completed in Easter 2013, we certainly do have a school fit for the twenty-first century.

Students succeed and enjoy their education at Sir Harry Smith Community College. We hope that you and your son or daughter will join us for a very exciting and rewarding learning journey over the next seven years.
