Required January 2022
“Our aspirational leadership embeds a culture of ambition which permeates the school” Ofsted May 2017
The Trustee Board of The Misbourne is seeking to appoint an inspirational Headteacher to lead the Academy from January 2022. The role would ideally suit an existing experienced Headteacher or a Deputy Headteacher with substantial leadership experience in pursuit of their first Headship. Our current Headteacher is leaving the Academy after three years in the role due to relocation. She leaves the school in a strong position: rated “Good” by Ofsted, with many outstanding elements, financially sound and with student outcomes meeting national expectations. Our strategy, vison and mission are strong and we are looking for an Headteacher to build on these over the coming years.
‘To develop world-class students who have the belief in themselves that anything is possible and lead happy and successful lives.’
We are looking to appoint an open communicator with the passion to bring out the best in the students and staff and to navigate the Academy through the next exciting stage of its development. We have a culture of ambition that would suit a Headteacher who has the motivation and the trust to empower others in order to get things done.
The Misbourne lies in the village of Great Missenden, in the Chiltern Hills, a short distance from the M25 / M40 and served by the Chiltern train line. It is a strategic partner in the Astra School Alliance, fully participating in training, support, research and development.
The school has:
• A good local reputation and is regularly oversubscribed
• High expectations of staff and students and no tolerance for complacency.
• A calm learning environment where students have a positive attitude to learning, their progress and personal development.
• High quality teaching and a real focus on bespoke staff development
• A clear commitment to maintaining high standards and maximising the performance of each individual student.
We have just over 1000 students between the ages of 11 to 18 with 150 in the Sixth Form served by a staff of just over 100 (c.60 teaching / 30 support staff). We have recently started building a new multi-million pound sports centre which is due to be completed in Summer 2022.
The Misbourne is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff, workers and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to provide two satisfactory references, undertake pre-employment checks and have a cleared Enhanced Disclosure & Barring check.
