Conservative Manifesto: free breakfast for all primary children?
As we head towards the general election, with all polls pointing towards a big Conservative win, there are a number of issues which, I think need some thought and discussion in their Manifesto. One of them: with 92% of primary children having breakfast before coming to school (according to a 2015 survey by the British Nutrition Foundation) is it necessarily a good thing for schools to be providing a free breakfast for all primary children (Manifesto pages 51-52)? Does this not represent a big transfer of responsibility from parents to the state? Would be interested to know what you think
